BACK TO FILM DETAILS
Champs challenges the perception of the American Dream through the journeys of heralded boxers Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Bernard Hopkins. Chronicling these three protagonists’ painstaking paths to self-discovery, the film reveals their perpetuating battles through today’s most prevalent social issues as allegories for the countless Americans that face the same obstacles, including struggling with poverty, broken homes, drug and alcohol abuse, violence and the failures of our educational and prison systems. The film delves into the unique abilities of these fighters to face life’s most difficult obstacles and yet highlights how we as a society leave these men without the right tools to succeed outside of the ring. We call them career "Champs," but cannot help but ask the question if they can truly be champions in life.
